Can I bring my pet?

Some people don’t have a choice. We get it. But if it’s at all possible to leave your pet at home, you should. Here’s why:

  • Avoid the paperwork nightmare. You’ll need specific paperwork to bring your pet on the plane. You’ll need more to get it through customs at the airport. You’ll need even more if you want to take it to a vet in Korea.

  • Avoid the fees. We don’t know the specifics of what you’ll have to pay to bring your pet overseas, but we’ve heard from other expats the process isn’t cheap.

  • Landlord drama = school drama. Most landlords in Korea don’t allow tenants to bring pets into apartments. Because your school is providing your housing, they may just avoid offering you an interview altogether once they find out you’re bringing a pet to Korea. Even if you’re the perfect fit, they may want to avoid the headache of negotiating with landlords and will just move onto the next candidate for the job.
