Will my tattoo(s) or piercing(s) cause any problems?
South Korea is still conservative about all tattoos and any piercings beyond the ear lobe. Before you send any photos to Korea Works, make sure your tattoos are not visible and all piercings (except ear piercings) have been removed. Failure to do so could mean that you’ll never receive an interview offer from a school.
Also be aware that you’ll need to keep your tattoos covered, and any nose, lip, or other type of piercing will most likely need to be removed whenever you’re at school. We understand that this seems unfair — prejudice, even — but unfortunately we cannot change Korean culture. We can simply do our best to make you aware of the cultural differences so that you are not shocked when your employer demands that you cover your tattoo or take out your piercing.
